After World War ll, Tom Piper worked for several electrical companies both large and small in and around Toronto. It was in 1948 that Tom decided he wanted to work for himself and Piper Electric was founded in Toronto's east end. Tom was very instrumental in the setting up of the licensing of electricians in Toronto and was very proud to be offered the original Metropolitan Toronto licence number of E2, which today the company still operates under. It was not until the late '80's that Tom garnered a partner in the well established business, that being the second youngest of his six children, Tom Jr. Affectionately known to their many repeat customers as the Tom & Tom show, the two ran the company together until Tom Sr.s death in 1995.
