General Information

Sailor saved by rescuers from burning yacht in SeahamA French yachtsman has been reclaimed after his yacht burst into flames North East coast. The thirty six foot long vessel caught fire at around 05:45 BST off Seaham in County Durham. According to reports, the RNLI rescuers stated that thick plumes of smoke were seen by the yacht crews in the region and a whole lot of others went to help the sailor in danger.The man dealt to get into a life raft. Eventually, the yacht sank and he was pulled to refuge by an RAF rescue helicopter and taken to the hospital. The RNLI stated that he was shaken but was unharmed. As per the organization, the yacht was the of the sailor and he was sailing from Iceland to Holland.Robbie Maiden, the Hartlepool RNLI cox, stated that fortunately the sailor was uninjured but it was very sad to see his yacht burn and then sink so quickly. They understand the boat was his and it looks like he has lost nearly everything.
